Philip was born and educated in England and first came to Kenya in the British Army. After leaving the King’s African Rifles in 1957, he worked in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania for more than 40 years, during which time he competed 14 times in the East African Safari Rally for the Ford and Peugeot works teams. Throughout his life in East Africa, Philip has spent much of his leisure time on safari, exploring and camping in the game parks and reserves of East Africa with his wife, two sons and many family and friends from all parts of the world. Having been an ‘amateur’ safari guide for over 30 years he has now turned ‘professional’. By graduating through the Bronze and Silver exams of the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association, Philip now joins the select few guides who have graduated to this level. His company, Suswa Limited, is specifically designed to provide personally guided safaris, with itineraries tailor-made to take advantage of the stunning scenery and wildlife on offer. Being on safari with Philip, you will enjoy and benefit from his enthusiasm and knowledge of the African bush, the wildlife, trees and plants and, especially, his love of the birdlife of East Africa.
